The moment South African motorsport fans have been waiting for has arrived. Tickets are now on sale for next year’s Cape Town E-Prix, taking place on 25 February.

Following ratification of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s Season 9 calendar by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) last month, e-Movement (Pty) Ltd today launched ticket sales for South Africa’s first all-electric street circuit race which will be held in the Greenpoint and Waterfront precinct.

Ticket Prices start at R350 for General Admission to the Cape Town E-Prix Allianz Fan Village, where spectators will be able to experience all the excitement of the E-Prix first-hand, participate in various events and activities, buy merchandise, and watch the race on big screens.

For those that desire a seat on the grandstands, there are a range of options starting at R1,595. The premium tickets for Beach Road stands 1-4 will be located on one of the fastest sections of the track, between turns 9 and 10, and include access to the elegant Beachside Lounge, shaded seating, buffet-style lunch, park and ride service, dedicated cash bar and private toilet facilities. These tickets are R3,450.

e-Movement’s Chairman Iain Banner says, “We are delighted to announce that we are another step closer towards staging a magnificent event unlike anything our country has ever seen. I encourage Capetonians – and in fact all South Africans – to book tickets early to avoid disappointment and be among the first to experience for yourselves the thrill of live electric motor racing right on our doorstep.”

e-Movement (Pty) Ltd and Formula E entered into a multi-year agreement to host the world’s only allelectric FIA World Championship in 2021 and remain committed to delivering a world-class event.

Alberto Longo, Co-founder and Chief Championship Officer of Formula E said: “With tickets now on sale, fans have the chance to be part of history and experience the first-ever Formula E race in South Africa on Saturday, 25 February. We expect passionate motorsport fans and anyone who enjoys exciting live sports action to want to be there as 22 drivers from the very best race teams in the world including Porsche, Maserati, McLaren and Jaguar go wheel-to-wheel at speeds of up to 200mph on the streets of Cape Town. It will be a unique experience for friends and families and create memories that will last a lifetime. I cannot wait to be there myself.”

In the lead up to the race, Cape Town will host E-Fest Cape Town – a 10-day themed festival of activities and events showcasing e-mobility. It serves as a celebration of Go Green Africa, a shared mission founded by organizations committed to playing a meaningful role in helping to accelerate Africa’s transition to a “Green Economy” in a just and inclusive way.

E-Fest Cape Town will consist of various activities advocating for electric mobility including:

  • E-Fest Electric: an e-mobility festival featuring all things electric, EV’s, motorbikes, one-wheeler scooters, bicycles, and charging solutions.
  • Africa’s Green Economy Summit (AGES): showcases and connects global capital with African
    Green Economy opportunities.
